OCHA is United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. OCHA is established to
strengthen the United Nation's response to both complex emergencies and natural disasters.
Primarily, OCHA resposible identifying NGOs (Non Government Organizations) that will help re-build disaster areas.
OCHA's operation is totally depends on data in hand. When disaster strikes, OCHA needs the quickly collect
information about local NGOs that can take part re-building the area. It is crucial that the local NGOs legitimacy,
capabilities, and effectiveness to be verified with many data sources.
Having a lot of data collecting OCHA agents in the disaster area with a little or no internet connectivity,
it is a big challenge to synchronize and organize all the collected data to see the big picture.
Netformix developed 3W (Who What Where) application in order to streamline the data collection and syncronization
operation. The application is built using YouPub™ Backend Manager and it is consist of portable application
that can run on laptops and 3W portal.
The data collected by OCHA agents on foot is recorded to 3W application. When the agents have a chance to connect
to internet, the collected data is syncronized with the 3W portal, where one can access all the collected data.
The 3W project is live since 2004 with over 5000 installations.
